We received the LectroFan Kinder for free in exchange for a review on my website. All statements and opinions are my own honest statements and opinions. I would not share a product with you that I didn’t personally use and enjoy.
The LectroFan Kinder is a sound machine for a baby or toddler’s room. It also projects light onto the wall for a nightlight. It plugs into a wall outlet and connects to the LectroFan app on a cell phone. There is also a button on the front of the device to turn it on and off if you don’t have access to your cell phone. It has over 75 different sounds and provides a rainbow of light options. You can also adjust the brightness of the light. The device also has a sleep timer if you don’t want to leave it on all night.
I received our LectroFan Kinder at the beginning of March. We’ve used it daily since then. Prior to getting the device, we used an Amazon Echo Dot to play rain sounds on loop and a large light-up diffuser for a nightlight (we didn’t diffuse anything, just used it for light). We took our trip to MommyCon and I forgot all about having a sound machine/nightlight. Luckily, I picked up my LectroFan Kinder while we were there. We used it all weekend. It’s small enough to fit in my purse and doesn’t require WiFi to set it up. We no longer use the Echo Dot or diffuser. The LectroFan Kinder has become our go-to. It will be going with us when we travel later this month. Below, you’ll see what I have found to be the pros and cons of the device.
It is super easy to travel with and small enough to fit in the diaper bag.
There are so many options for sound and light color (over 75 sounds and a rainbow of colors).
It has an app to control the device = you don’t have to enter the room to adjust the features (if you’re within 50 feet).
It was easy to set-up (Plug it in, download the app, turn on Bluetooth, connect, and begin adjusting your settings).
It has a button on the front to easily turn it on and off (this is good for parents but could be a con as children get older and transition to a bed). So far, we haven’t had any issues with Piper being in a bed and being able to access it.
The price is a little high in comparison to other sound machines. It can be purchased from Sound of Sleep. The current price, as of 3/24/18, is $79.95.
Sometimes, the device disconnects from my phone and then has trouble reconnecting. I feel like I need to be relatively close to the device to use the app. The website says you need to be within 50 feet of the device but I feel like it may be shorter than that. I still don’t have to enter my daughter’s room to adjust it, so that is still a huge plus.
The sound gets loud at times and then softens again (on the drizzle setting, not sure of others).
I really love our LectroFan Kinder. I love that I can take it with us when we travel and it’s as simple as plugging it in. We are fans of background noise when we sleep. My husband and I sleep with a tower fan and Piper sleeps with rain sounds. I would recommend this device to anyone who has an infant or toddler that needs some background noise to sleep, especially if they travel. It is a perfect travel nightlight and sound machine.
