Christmas decorating is one of my favorite things about this time of year. I really enjoyed decorating for fall this year and I had even more fun decorating for Christmas! A couple years ago, we decided to make our Christmas theme silver and gold. Previously, we only decorated our Christmas tree, but this year we added some new elements!

The Christmas Tree
We have a 7 foot, lighted tree. On our tree, there are over 250 ornaments and sometimes I feel like it needs more. When we put the tree up, we get so much glitter all over everything. I’m fairly certain we’ll be sweeping glitter up until next Christmas when it all comes back out again! Piper has done a great job of not messing with the tree, which is a bit surprising. She was very interested in it at first but doesn’t care much now.
I made our garland and I am so proud of it! I wrote THIS post all about making it. The reason we didn’t just buy one was that we couldn’t find one that was both silver and gold. We could only find garland that had one or the other color. I really think the garland just added something extra to our holiday decor.
Above the Cabinet Decor
Like we did with fall decorating, we utilized the space above our kitchen cabinets for holiday decor. We obviously continued with the silver and gold theme. All of the gifts that you see were wrapped by me. We found the wrapping paper at Hobby Lobby, as well as the glittery ribbon and bows. All of the boxes were found in our home. Crazy, right? We clearly order from Amazon too much. The other decor was purchased at Hobby Lobby. When we took the fall decorations down, our kitchen looked so bare. I think we will forever need to have decorations above our cabinets. The nice thing about silver and gold is that it can transition to winter decor pretty easily and stay up there a little bit longer.
Let me know what you think! I’d love some feedback! Do you decorate with the same colors every year, or find something new every year? Do you have any Christmas decorating traditions? Next year we will work on our outdoor decor. That’ll be a first for us. Now that we have the inside figured out (for a few years), we can think about the inside.
