MommyCon is a parenting convention, hosted in many cities across the United States, that focuses on natural parenting. It is an incredibly positive event that educates parents on many aspects of parenting. There is information on breastfeeding, natural birthing, babywearing, cloth diapering, car seat safety, menstrual health and products, safe sleep, and so much more!
MommyCon‘s missions is “to create a community of support, acceptance and non-judgement for parents journeying through parenthood.” And I would say they go above and beyond. For more information about MommyCon, please check out their site HERE. If you decide to purchase tickets, get 10% off by using the promo code LIVELOVEMESS18.

I attended the Chicago event in March and it was so great! I learned a lot. The Chicago event is 3 days long and is the largest MommyCon event. The 2018 MommyCon events are…
10 Reasons You Can’t Miss It
You get to meet amazing speakers!
The speakers for the sessions are awesome! Typically, after the sessions, you can stick around and ask questions and talk to the speaker. They also walk around the event and spend time at the booths. I had the opportunity to talk with Jennifer Labit, founder and CEO of my most favorite cloth diapering brand, Cotton Babies. I also was lucky enough to talk with Mat York (car seat safety and babywearing) and Laura Woj (potty training!).
The sessions and information!
The sessions throughout the day are so incredibly valuable and they span a wide variety of topics. You are able to see the schedule of sessions prior to the event, so you can map out your day. There are sessions on cloth diapering, potty training, car seat safety, babywearing, infant and child brain development, mealtime tips and nutrition, female self-care, and so much more. The sessions last from about 45 minutes to over an hour, depending on the topic. I went to as many sessions as I could and I feel like I got so much out the event!
They’ve announced most of the sessions for the Chicago event and I couldn’t be more excited! Check out the schedule here.
So many incredible natural parenting companies come together in one space, allowing families to see and experience products prior to buying. If you live somewhere like me, you don’t have many options available for finding natural parenting products, except the internet. I like to see and try products before spending the money on them, so I LOVED getting to talk with the different companies and seeing what they had to offer. The brands also typically offered a discount of some kind at the event.
The other mamas!
It isn’t often that you are in a room with hundreds, who are relatively like-minded. And even if they aren’t, everyone is so kind. MommyCon social media accounts will often post things like, “Meet your new mom BFF at MommyCon.” I think that is definitely a possibility. Everyone is so very kind and they’re all just happy to be there. It seemed like everyone was willing to help if your kiddo was having a meltdown or you dropped something while breastfeeding, etc.
The extra special events!
Last year, I attended the Baby Tula Surprise Party in the evening on Saturday. I also went to the Cotton Babies Mob Party. Another event they had last year was the WEAR Party. I didn’t attend this event. This upcoming year, it sounds they will have a special event, called Sip & Shop. It’s still really early for the rest of the special events for next year, but they don’t disappoint.
The exclusive products and reveals!
A lot of the companies and brands that attend MommyCon, as vendors, will create exclusive MommyCon products. Some even wait to reveal the products until they are at the event. Tula did that last year with their Free-To-Grow carrier. They revealed that at the surprise party we went to. A few of the cloth diaper brands will create exclusives, only available at MommyCon. It’s definitely an incentive to go.
The VIP sessions!
These sessions are typically very intimate, with a small group of people and the speaker(s). They are educational, supportive, and fun. They are very valuable, but also cost extra. The price is worth it for those that attend, though. Attendees also get a special VIP gift bag.
The products for mamas!
There were TONS of products specifically for mom. There were a lot of reusable menstrual options, hygiene and self-care products, breastfeeding products, and more. It was nice to have options and to see and experience them.
The gift bag!
This is not available with the general admissions tickets anymore, but is available with all other ticket options. Inside the gift bag I had sample products, one full-sized product, and many, many coupons that could be used after the event. So, if you found something you liked, but were unsure of it at the event, you could get the product with the MommyCon discount afterwards.
By purchasing a ticket, you are entered into the daily giveaways at the end of each day. You must be present to win. The giveaways are huge! They give away car seats, strollers, cloth diapers, gift sets, self-care products, and so much more. I don’t know for sure how many items were given away but so many people won. It was really fun!

MommyCon has special Event Elements that set it apart from other parenting conventions. Event Elements are interactive areas that showcase great baby products and provide education to parents. Last year, there was a Feeding Lounge for moms to comfortably feed their babies, if they didn’t want to feed them in the sessions or in the hallways. They encourage parents to feed their babies wherever they want, but in the Feeding Lounge they have comfy chairs, pillows, quiet music, etc. It was nice to have a quiet area to nurse so Piper wasn’t distracted.
There was also a Babywearing Lounge for parents to try a variety of carriers and wraps. The Cloth Diaper Resource Center had a variety of cloth diapers for parents to learn about the different styles available to them. MommyCon also provided a Quiet Room for families to use for getting their babies to nap. The Event Elements really make MommyCon extra special.
